Prim Law’s Community Outreach in Review: October 23, 2015

Here at Prim Law Firm, PLLC our mission is to serve our clients with zealous advocacy and compassion to meet the needs of those who are in need of a helping hand during a difficult time in their life or to make their life easier after a life changing event occurs. We accomplish this by helping personal injury victims in automobile accidents get compensation for their bodily injuries, helping workers that have been exposed to dangerous work places get compensation for their bodily injuries, helping a spouse navigate through a painful divorce, helping a disabled person obtain Social Security Disability, help a person fight for his or her legal rights in an employment or contract dispute or by helping a person manage his or her estate and affairs to plan for the unexpected illness or death by drafting Wills, Living Wills, Medical and Durable Power of Attorney documents and Trusts.

However, there are many things in life that thankfully don’t require legal services but still need attention to improve the quality of life for West Virginians. Thus, Prim Law Firm strives to improve West Virginia life outside of providing legal services by doing Community Outreach. This involves donating to charity, lending a farm hand help at local fairs, and participating in fundraisers.

Specifically, Prim Law Firm donated $5,000.00 to the Make-A-Wish foundation to host the Chasing Butterflies Tea Party at the Putnam County Wave Pool for children with serious illnesses. Additionally, Prim Law Firm participated in the Putnam County, Cabell County, Mason County, and Richie County 4-H/FFA Livestock Auctions and purchased numerous Grand Champions, Reserve Grand Champions, and lower placed rabbits, lambs, goats, heifers, calves, steers and hogs. These animals were purchased at a premium with the proceeds going to 4-H/FFA children that raised the animals from birth and sold them at auction. These children benefit tremendously by receiving an above market price for their raised livestock so they can save for college or other future life events. Here’s Brian helping at the Putnam County Fair (background with white and blue plaid shirt) and Wesley Fisher’s 2015 4-H Market Hog purchased by Prim Law and Brian at the Ritchie County Fair.

Similarly, Prim Law Firm donated $15,000.00 and participated in the 6th Annual RODS Benefit Color Out Meso that supports mesothelioma research. The Firm had a blast running through Eleanor, West Virginia for the 5k event and was covered in colored dust by the end.

Likewise, Prim Law Firm was a Gold Sponsor to the 2015 Colors of Cancer 5k in Huntington, West Virginia. This run supports cancer treatment and research for everyone diagnosed with cancer and Prim Law Firm donated specifically to lung cancer research in support of all the loved ones that have been diagnosed with this deadly illness. Unfortunately, West Virginia ranks seventh in the nation in mortality rate for mesothelioma lung cancer according to data collected by the National Center for Health Statistics, with an age-adjusted rate of 15.19 per million population between the years 1999 and 2005.

Next, Prim Law Firm wants to help the future generation of West Virginia and has taken steps to do so. Thus, Prim Law Firm donated to help with students needing school supplies at Confidence Elementary in Putnam County and has started a scholarship at West Virginia University.

Lastly, Prim Law Firm donated one hundred Minion Backpacks to local Putnam County Schools to be distributed with the help of the Putnam County Sheriff’s office so that elementary students could start their school year off right with a new backpack and a smile because everyone loves Minions!
